About Thomas Jude Freitag
Thomas was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1958 into a large Catholic family, and was raised in Erie, Michigan, Eugene, Oregon, and finally St. Louis, Missouri, which he considers his 'home town'. In 1983 he moved to Asia, where he worked for twenty years in Christian mission. He met Lene from Norway one lovely day in Hong Kong, and they married in 1997.
Thomas has a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in practical theology; he worked many years with those challenged with substance abuse and as a therapist for teenagers in crisis. Thomas and Lene have three grown children, Benjamin, Katrine, and Elisabeth, and have called Kristiansand, Norway home since 2004. Thomas loves travelling, hiking in the Norwegian mountains, putzing in the garden, reading a good book, and making eccentric dinners and desserts.
Why Thomas writes
Thomas writes because his stories carry the potential to unearth readers' aches of yesterday—and reveal the unexpected balm of healing. They may shatter the lies that bind you—replacing them with a love that sets you free. Or they may ignite a hope so powerful—it will pull you from the deepest despair. He writes for people who may be weary, guilty or doubting so they can find rest, grace and the revelation of the reality of true love.
