About Malou Faublas
Malou Faublas was born in Haiti, raised in Columbia and migrated to the USA. Her life as a missionary took her from New York to Cuba, from Cuba to her birthplace Haiti and finally on to the bateys (ghettos) in Barahona, Dominican Republic, where she continues to live and minister today.
Why Malou writes
Malou wrote Dancing In The Fire for two reasons. First, the mission agency she works with, Children of the Nations, is growing in Barahona, Dominican Republic. Most of the original team members who started the work there are no longer involved. Malou wanted the new missionaries and volunteers to know how the mission started. She wanted them to understand the challenges she faced in the beginning. Second, she wrote the book for a testimony of how God can use an older, single woman to extend His kingdom among the bateys in Barahona, and to impact this generation with His glory.
Malou's Book
Dancing in the Fire, by Malou Faublas with Charmaine Brackett
Laugh and cry with Malou as she shares her journey starting as a new Christian, to becoming a new missionary, to years of victories and challenges as a veteran missionary in the Dominican Republic. This book records Malou's exciting journey with Christ starting in 1988 through the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and on to this day. You will become acquainted with the plight of desperate Haitian immigrants who come over the mountains, often on foot, in an effort to find work and a better home in the Dominican Republic. These immigrants land in tiny villages near sugar cane fields where they can earn a small amount of money doing the hard, dirty field work the Dominicans will not do. It was to these bateys that Malou was called by the Lord to bring the light of Christ and hope for a better future for the Haitian people and their Dominico-Haitian descendants. This is a story of faith, dependence on Christ alone and the ups and downs of real life on the mission field that has led to transformation of lives and an entire area.

What is Malou working on now?
Malou is teaching leadership and discipleship classes to many of the children who grew up in the mission schools of Barahona and who are now leaders, pastors, and Christian professionals. She continues to mentor new believers. She leads an altar of intercessory prayer from 5-6 AM daily Monday though Friday. In addition, she is evangelizing a small group of adolescents in a nearby Haitian community, and helping to cover the responsibilities of another missionary who is on sabbatical this year.
