About Book-Klatch

Thomas Jude Freitag grew up in St. Louis and lives with his family in Norway. Lesley Barker grew up in New York City, raised her children in St. Louis where she met Thomas some 40 years ago, and now lives in Southeast Missouri. They both write books, are consecrated to God and to prayer, and have felt stymied at how to promote the books they have labored to write. Book-Klatch.com is the result of many conversations between them.

We all have similar stories. We are authors who have been called by God to write books. We have sacrificially obeyed Him and have finished each book. We arranged for it to be published and we expected it to bear fruit - to produce royalties and to attract readers. But there has been little to no fruit and we have become discouraged. We have experimented with typical successful marketing strategies, sometimes spending considerable money to be assisted or represented by an agent, but it has not felt right in our spirit. We have chosen to wait poised for the Lord to give the next step - sometimes waiting for years...

The problem, until now, has been that all the book promoting and marketing strategies have been reliant on earthly wisdom and algorithms and financial arrangements and competition. These tend to syphon Kingdom resources away from the ones who labored faithfully under God's anointing to produce the book. In addition, self-promotion is forbidden as contrary to love in 1 Corinthians 13.

Our Klatch community and marketing strategy depends on loving each other well enough to "esteem each other better than yourself; [and] let each of you look out not only for his own interest, but also for the interests of others" (Philippians 2:3-4 New King James Version).

Our model is God's methodology for promoting His glory through a collaborative covering that contains individual spaces from which each author can be released in a regular rhythm for progressive, cumulative, global visibility and impact. This will dispel darkness, produce harvests, and demonstrate the power and glory of God's Kingdom for His glory. It is predicated on Psalm 19.
